The round structure is flat at the top, then folded at the front as shown in the photos. At the back there is a bow made from the same felt. Some elegant rust colored feathers adorn the top front of the hat, plus also on top of the bow at the back. An elastic band is attached to the inside to help secure the hat in place under the hair. Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance.
